Negative Space

One of my clients has been experimenting with creating more space in his day after work. He’ll get off work a little earlier and do whatever he needs to do for “life” stuff – unpack, re-register his car, change over insurance, etc. before bedtime.

This “negative space” is allowing him to get administrative tasks done, get some exercise without overdoing it, and still get to bed at a good time.

I have similarly benefited from creating space in my day. Even just setting a time to stop working and do something I enjoy that relaxes me.

It doesn’t need to be a whole day, sometimes a half hour with a little reading, prayer, and a nap makes a big difference.

How can you create a little space in your life to get the rest that you need?
